it's halloween! happy halloween! let me preface this by following up on my last journal entry — almost immediately after my artistic crisis, i set up a kofi shop :D nothing has come of it yet and i don't expect anything to come of it soon, but it was fun setting it up, and that's what matters. i know that becoming a professional artist who gets sales and things is a lot of work and i don't intend to dedicate myself wholly to that alone. buuut i do like leaving the avenues open for it to become a bigger part of my life.
it finally got cold at the beginning of the month. and every time i found myself outside, after dark, in the cold... i found that i really really wanted to go trick-or-treating. i craved it for days, then weeks, without interruption (which is a good sign that something isn't actually just a passing whim). so, i made plans to go! i am an adult, but not far enough into adulthood that i'd outgrown the urge. i just want to feel the enchantment that is running around in the dark in near-freezing temperatures and coming home with frozen fingers and a bucket of candy.
to honor the spirit of the season (and in part to obscure my aforementioned adulthood) i made a classic ghost costume. i bought a king size bedsheet and a sheer black scarf from the thrift store for a beautiful 8 dollars, cut the bedsheet down to fit me, then cut out eye holes and sewed the sheer black fabric in place to cover them. the visibility in the costume isn't great, and i'm slightly worried about tripping and breaking my neck, but other than that i'm really excited to wear it :D
it might be a while before you hear from me again (given that i don't trip and break my neck tonight). next month i'm taking on nanowrimo, which means every spare minute i have will be dedicated to staring at our wip. i've also got a second round of midterms that i don't plan on studying for, a language to learn by december, a radio show to script and host, and a goodreads' yearly challenge record to beat. wish me luck! i'll be back soon. — 7
